Our School Council would like to host a Pyjama fundraising Day on Friday 1st March – children may wear pyjamas/onesies/nightwear to school and they are asking for a minimum donation of £1.00 towards our Ipads fundraising efforts.
Throughout this term and next, we will be hosting sessions known as ‘Open the Door @ Straits’. These sessions will allow you the opportunity to join your child in school and learn about aspects of our curriculum and complete an activity with your child. All sessions will be from 9.00am – 10.00am and dates are as follows:
Our new school menu will be launched on Monday 19th February 2024 and all meals will continue to be ordered and paid for via our current ScoPay app.
Our new provider has been working with our current supplier to ensure that the menu choices support the meals our children enjoy as well as providing some new exciting choices. The only change for parents is that paid meals will be £2.50.
To make the change to a new provider as easy as possible we have planned the following steps.
1. Please use the current menu to order meals up to February half-term. We are unable to load the new menu onto the SCoPay app until Wednesday 7th February so please only order meals up to February half term at this time.
2. The new menu will be live on ScoPay on Wednesday 7th February allowing you time to order meals ready for the return to school on Monday 19th February.
3. Please contact the school office if you have any questions about this change.
Christmas Discos - Wednesday 20th December
Our Christmas Discos will be held on Wednesday 20th December at the following times:
No tickets are required for this event as children will pay on the main door as they enter. The price of entry will be £3.00 and this will include refreshments. All children will be dismissed from the back of the hall.
On Wednesday 20th December, children are invited to wear a ‘Christmas’ jumper (other uniform as normal) to celebrate and raise funds for Save the Children (https://www.savethechildren.org.uk/christmas-jumper-day).
We have set ourselves the challenge of trying to raise £400 for this charity and if each child donated £1.00 then we would be close to reaching this total – donations should be given to your child’s class teacher on the day.
Our Christmas Meal will also take place on this day, please order this via the normal hot meals ordering system by Friday 8th December 2023.
On Friday 8th December, our children will be invited to wear their own clothes and make a donation towards our Christmas Hampers. Donations requested are – chocolate, wine, soft drinks, biscuits, cakes, bath or beauty products.
From Monday 11th December, we will be selling raffle tickets for our Christmas Hamper Raffle – tickets will be on sale before and after school as well as at Christmas performances.
On Friday 17th November, we will becoming SPOTacular for Children in Need. We are inviting children to wear their own clothes on this day but be as ‘spotty’ as they can (hats, t-shirts, jumpers, leggings, shorts, faces...)
We will also be holding a ‘danceathon’ in our school hall where we will be continually dancing from 9.00 – 3.25pm! Each class will visit the hall to dance through the day and the idea is that there is always someone dancing without any break!
To raise funds for Children in Need, we are asking that children make a donation (minimum of £1.00) for taking part.
On Tuesday 14th November, we will be joining in with World Diabetes Day. This will include an assembly and a coffee morning (9.00am – 10.00am) with an opportunity to share stories or look at resources and materials – all parents are welcome to join our coffee morning. More information is available at https://www.diabetes.org.uk/get_involved/world-diabetes-day
On Friday 27th October (this Friday) the children can come to school ‘dressed to impress’. This can be an outfit of their choosing – football kit, Halloween costume, a disco outfit, a shirt and tie, pyjamas, a dress – the choice is theirs!
We are asking that the children make a minimum donation of £1.00 for this day (of course we will accept more towards our Ipad target of £8000 so please give generously).
On Wednesday 25th October, Digipix will be attending the school to take your child’s photograph. The company have informed us that they will take a group ‘sibling’ photograph for those families with more than one child in school and an individual photograph for each child. The ‘proof’ of your family/child’s photograph will be sent home the following day and you can then order online with your completed order sent to your home address.
