Thursday 28th September was our Harvest Festival. Paul Wilmott led our assembly and Annette Raybould from the Food Bank Centre came to explain how the food donations could help our people in our community.
School Council helped to display all the produce that families had kindly donated. All the produce was shared between four charities, Springs Food Bank, Beacon Centre for the Blind, Leonard Cheshire Homes and Mary Stevens Hospice.
School Council members helped to load all the harvest goods into the vans from Beacon Centre and the Leonard Cheshire Home. One of the residents called Mark came in the van to say hello. He was very pleased with all of the food we were able to donate to his charity.
We filled three cars with food for the Springs Food Bank and also filled Mrs Birch’s car with tins to take to the Hospice Shop. Sue Etheridge from Mary Stevens Shop is going to use the tins to make a Christmas Hamper which can be used for a raffle prize. Last year they raised £253 with the produce that our families donated. Thank you to everyone who donated food for the display we are very grateful.
