Year 2

Hello from the Year 2 teachers: Mrs Phillips, Mrs Allen and Miss Pearson. Our classes are supported by Mrs Nash, Mr Grice and Mrs Dakin. We are really looking forward to teaching the Year 2 children this year and can't wait to celebrate some of their successes and achievements with you. Please keep an eye out on our year group page for key information and to take a sneak peak at some of the fantastic learning that goes on inside and outside our classrooms.

Key Information:

  • Please make sure your child brings their reading book and homework diary into school every day.
  • Homework is set on My Maths on a Wednesday and needs to be completed by the following Wednesday - Each child has a copy of their login details stuck into the front of their homework diary.
  • Every half term your child will receive a spelling booklet detailing the spellings for each week. A copy of this will also be uploaded to the website in case these get mislaid (See below). Please make sure this is kept in their blue book back at all times.
  • The children will be tested on their spellings every Friday.
  • When hearing your child read, please comment and sign their diary.
  • Reading books will be changed every Monday.
  • Any work at home on learning 2, 5 and 10 times tables would be very beneficial.

PE:

Our PE topics will be taught on Mondays and Fridays (2AP) and Wednesdays and Fridays (2P). We will be focusing on striking and fielding, ball skills and basic shapes in gymnastics.

Please make sure any jewellery is removed on these days and that hair is tied up.

Please keep visiting our page to see some of our wonderful learning. You may find some of the documents and links below useful.

The new term...

Discovering Dragon Eggs

On Thursday 3rd  September, we made an exciting discovery when we found two unusual eggs in the trees next to our playground! Fortunately, the mystery was solved when we received a letter later that day from the dragon curator, explaining that he had left us some very special dragon eggs to look after. In his letter, he also asked us to find out more about dragons and create our own dragon artwork. We are all very excited to begin our dragon adventure and discover more about these fascinating creatures over the coming few weeks!
