Christmas Dinner Day
Year 5 all wore their Christmas jumpers for Christmas dinner day today. We looked amazing! Here's hoping we all have a fabulous last week at school and a well earned rest over the holidays.
Year 5 staff would like to take this opportunity to wish the children and their families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
As Year 5 all settled down to watch the next chapter in our book, they saw Albert in the trenches in the Somme getting ready for an ‘over the top’ attack. The next thing they knew, a WW1 soldier was running into the classroom shouting, “Where am I? How did I get here?”
'Tommy Atkins’ (our history expert Andrew) shared stories about life as an ordinary soldier in France, showed us the different kit issued at the time and answered questions at the end of the session. The children said they thought it was like going back in time listening to a real WW1 soldier and would recommend a history expert to other classes. What a great afternoon.
Happy half term
Year 5 staff would like to wish all our children and their families a restful and safe half term holiday. We look forward to hearing all your news when we are back at school on Monday 30th October, 2017.
Staffordshire Regiment Museum Visit
Year 5 visited the Staffordshire Regiment Museum. Costumed guides greeted the children to guide our day. The children explored a reconstructed trench system, handled costumes and kit used by soldiers and found out about the War and trench warfare. Our mission to the shop was very successful too! A great time was had by all. Take a look at our photos.
